Welcome to the Historic Midtown Development Group website. Here you will find all the information you need to become aquainted (or re-aquainted) with the historic part of Sikeston, keep abreast of events and activities, and learn of our restoration plans. Downtown is the heart of the community and it is our goal to make it a thriving retail and business district once again.
Among others, the advantages to downtown development include:
- increasing the tax base for the city
- increasing tourism and visitor dollars
- protecting and preserving historic buildings for future generations to enjoy
The mission of the Historic Midtown Development Group is to enhance the economic and cultural vibrancy of Downtown Sikeston, as well as its historic identity. Using consensus-based comprehensive planning and the Main Street Four Point Approach of organization, economic development, promotion, and design, HMDG will address the downtown area's problems and opportunities, making Downtown Sikeston an attractive place to live, work, visit, shop, and invest.
The Historic Midtown Development Group meets on the 1st Thursday of each month, 8:00 a.m. at Susie's Bake Shoppe. Anyone interested in the commerce and restoration of Downtown Sikeston is welcome to attend. The meetings last approximately one hour. Our monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month, 8:00 A.M. at Susie's Bake Shop.

Join us at the Downtown Merchant's Open House on November 6-8.
Stores will be open late to kick off the Holiday Season.
Join us again on December 4th for the "Magic of the Holidays"-
Santa will be stopping by the Depot and MAGIC
will be happening all over in Downtown!
Sikeston Habitat for Humanity will host the raffle drawing for the playhouse
with Santa at the Depot on the evening of the 4th.
